Max Poff

Each month students and staff members will be "in the spotlight" as a way to celebrate them for being great ambassadors of the MPSD Mission, Vision and Core Beliefs.   May's Spotlight focuses on Wilson Warhawk Max Poff.

What are your hobbies? I play basketball all year which takes a lot of time.  I also play video games, watch tv, and work out/ lift weights.

What are your plans after high school? After high school, I plan to go to a four year college. I don’t know what career I want to go into as of right now, but I would love to continue playing basketball wherever I go.

What is your favorite book? My favorite book is "Prisoner B-3087" by Alan Gratz. It’s a novel based on a true story about a Jewish boy during World War II and how he survived without his family by his side.

What is your favorite movie? I don’t really have a favorite movie. I like different kinds of movies like action, scary, and comedy. I like a lot of movies.

What would you like to be doing ten years from now? Ten years from now I would like to be playing basketball as a full time job, but I know there isn’t a good percentage that this will happen. Throughout middle school, I’ve learned that I’m pretty good at the stock market and business, so maybe in ten years I’ll be in a business career.

What MPSD co-curricular activities are you involved in? At school I am involved in WEB (Where Everybody Belongs). WEB is a club where 9th graders, as the oldest in the school, make everyone feel like they belong at school, which includes the new 7th, 8th, and even the new 9th graders. We are role models to show what’s right and wrong and how to successfully succeed at school.

Who are your role models? My role model is LeBron James. What he has gone through throughout his life and how he handles the spotlight of being one of the best basketball players to ever play the game of basketball is inspiring. He also speaks his mind about political issues and doesn’t care what anybody says about him. Everything he does is inspiring to me.
